what are you doing right now?

oh i know! you are having some kind of an experience

so i was thinking
the flatter the weirder and

what are you doing right now?

and also
that if we were recording a video while playing it back, and we sped up the playback - would we be able to see the future in fast forward?
likely not
but that's what i was thinking while doing the thinking the other day

i think of flat economy for you.
less me, less you.
more woods,
more open skies.
more spacecraft and Timothy Morton,
and more creatures from the deep,
more disregard for our needs,
more decomposition of our good intentions,
more things of no use.
less me, less you,
i think of a flat economy for you.

i wrote this,

what are you doing right now?

if your left wing is malfunctioning, you can power it with the right wing until you return to a balanced, pleasant soar across the skies.

just saying

what are you doing right now?

according to alan watts, some zen priests present their pupils strange requests called koans, like "show me your original face before you were born". supposedly they are designed to shake off pretenses that muddle ordinary life. i am not a zen priest but i'd like to think of this webpage as something like a koan in the making, although it really is not a koan at all but a webpage by someone who uses the pen name

what are you doing right now?

and there is very little else there to it, except its content of course.

written while waiting for the cucumbers to grow,

what are you doing right now?

since i begin these entries with a date i tend to think that this website begins at the bottom. but it's more likely you will begin from the top. so let's just suppose there's no way to tell where it really begins and ends. i find comfort in asking though;

what are you doing right now?

20/7/22

it may not be fate but here you are, reading. you might want to think of this as an hermetic website, kind of like monasteries are in the real world. it is governed by me,

what are you doing right now?

15/7/22

i changed the color of the webpage, because i can because i learned to write in css in order to do it. you can copy this page by the way, and all of its content as well. you can do what you want with it. you can make a million euro with anything you rip off this page, including these very words. this webpage is not your conscience.

written on the day before the signalled date because i thought i may want to spread things around a bit, and in a rush because i need to take firewood to the shed,

written while thinking that you must be reading this in the future,

what are you doing right now?

hi it's way. i am really a finnish person and not the text that you are reading, or not. that means that english is not my native language. i know academic english a bit but that might not help here. anyway i hope you keep reading.

written on a day that was still pleasantly warm but more windy than the day before,

hi, way here, again. i want to write to you about flat economy, although i am not sure what it means yet. it needs to be written about though, for at least two good reasons. the first reason is implied by the flatness, that is the non-flatness of economy. why an economy is not flat is because some things are valued over others in relation to their quantity, for example when small bits of diamond (actually carbon arranged in a crystal structure) are worth more than big bits of hay. i know this because i have been trained in a business school. that was a joke by the way, designed to amuse you. but what i joke about is only true according to us humans, which is the second reason why an economy may not be flat. but if humans would not determine the worthiness of things, as for example in a post-anthropocentric society (link), such an economy could be considerably flatter, if not fully flat. nothing might be more valuable than something else, because there would be no way to absolutize their relationship. that would be impossible because the human subject would no longer be the only one doing the worthiness-ascribings. instead, in a sheep economy small bits of hay is worth more than big bits of crystal structures, and in a carrot economy small bits of sheep shit is worth more than big bits of disney comics. crystal structures, even big bits of them, are irrelevant to sheep. big but also small bits of disney comics are mostly irrelevant to carrots. but in the human economy sheep shit, disney comics, carrots and crystal structures come together in a range of bits: a quantity of disney comics equals a quantity of crystal structures equals a quantity of carrot equals a quantity of sheep shit. we can think of the quantities as piles of carrots, disney comics, crystal structures and sheep shit. the piles will not be of similar size. their human economy is not flat. but if sheep shit are irrelevant to disney comics which are irrelevant to sheep which are irrelevant to crystal structures, as is if no one economy presides over another, how can we measure the piles?

written in my study, on a reclining chair that used to belong to my grandfather, while my family was still away and it still was very warm but surprisingly windy,

ps. a joke is not a lie

hi, way here. 'way' is an abbreviation of 'what are you' which is short for 'what are you doing right now?', so the full abbreviation should actually be 'waydrn', and is. it is a pen name, because my real name is lauri laine and i am a postdoctoral researcher in the field of entrepreneurship studies from eastern finland. i decided to use this pen name because i want to make a cool impression on you. on this website i am going to write about flat economy and i suspect i will often deploy an ooo (object-oriented ontological) approach, chiefly because it dethrones the human subject and its weird realist implications for human thinkers. i hope you keep reading.

written on a very warm yet surprisingly windy midsummer's day at home in saario, where i was alone because my wife and children were visiting isomummo in villähde and i stayed home to feed our cats and sheep,
